Who can be nominated for a Business Excellence Award (BEA)?

• Any business, non-profit, or employer with a valid business licence located in either the City of District of North Vancouver.

Can both North Vancouver Chamber members and non-members be nominated?

• Yes.

Do I need to have a business licence to qualify?

• Yes, you need to have proof of a current business licence from the City or District of North Vancouver.

How long does a business have to be in operation to be nominated?

• Minimum of 18 months in the City or District of North Vancouver.

Are West Vancouver companies eligible?

• Yes, if you have a location and valid business licence in North Vancouver. 

How many BEA categories are there?

• There are nine categories: Best Employer, Business of the Year, Environmental Initiative, Excellence in Equity, Innovation, Non-Profit of the Year, Service Excellence (1-10 Employees), Service Excellence (11+ Employees), and Young Entrepreneur. 

What is the qualifying age for the Young Entrepreneur Award?

• Under the age of 40 before December 31 of the year considered.

Can individual franchises locations within a larger chain qualify?

• Yes, if the franchise is individually owned/operated and located in the City or District of North Vancouver.

Can a business be nominated in more than one category?

• Yes.

Can a business or young entrepreneur themselves (self-nominate)?

• While we encourage everyone to nominate other great employers and individuals in our community, yes, we do accept self-nominations.

How many consecutive years can you be nominated or self-nominate?

• Unlimited, however, if you are a finalist or winner there is a two-year waiting period until you can be nominated again for any category (i.e., If you were a finalist or winner in 2024, you cannot be nominated until 2027).

How many years after winning can you accept a nomination in the same category?

• After 5 years.

Can sponsors be nominated?

• No, sponsors may not be nominated in any category.

When is the deadline for nominations?

•  Friday, September 12, 2025.

How are the finalists and winners decided?

• All nominees are asked to submit a package based on questions that related to the Award criteria.
• The Finalists are determined through our Judging Committee's evaluation of each nominee submission.
• Winners are then established through an additional interview and the entirety of the nominees' submitted information package.
• Note that the Awards Finalists or Winners are not decided by an online voting system, and their likelihood of winning are not impacted by the number of nominations.
